In the third decade of the twenty-first century, African Lions were released across North America as Humanity fell to a deadly virus. The first generation of African Lions struggled to adapt to life outside the zoos of Michigan. They learned to hunt American fauna, battled rival predators such as Wolves, Grizzly Bears and Pumas. They struggled in the winter but adjusted. As the climate changed and the post-human world warmed up, the new American Lions became Kings of North America. A thousand years after the Fall of Humanity, North America has changed drastically. The former major cities are covered with vegetation. Unbeknownst to the Lions, a small population of Siberian tigers and Bengal tigers has survived in places like Quebec and Ontario and their descendants are now encroaching into Lion territory.
