"I was finding poems that I liked, and that were meaningful to me, that had never appeared in any book. And why was that? My first husband, Robert Winson, was a small press editor and a great reader. He used to criticize my manuscripts by saying that I always left out quirky or off-brand work. 'You just include capital-P Poems, ' he'd complain. Of course I ignored this feedback.
